Labor & Delivery Nurse’s Compassion for Family Earns Her the DAISY Award

Jaclyn Latham, who works in Labor and Delivery, was nominated for the DAISY award by the mother of an infant who received neonatal intensive care at Conway Regional and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, our partner in the Arkansas Nursery Alliance.

The compassion and care shown by a nurse to the family of an infant in distress has earned Jacyln Latham, RN, the DAISY award.

Jaclyn, who works in Labor and Delivery, was nominated for the award by the mother of an infant who received neonatal intensive care at Conway Regional and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, our partner in the Arkansas Nursery Alliance.

“I truly felt that she advocated for me and my family.” The mother wrote, “My husband left with our baby and Jaclyn spent time at my bedside making sure that I was OK, that my needs were met, and all my questions were answered. She came into my room before the end of her shift to check on me again and to tell me that she would be praying for me and our baby.”

The international DAISY award is the highest award that a nurse can receive at Conway Regional. All nominations for the DAISY award are anonymous and the award is presented based on the patient care story submitted. Nomination forms are available throughout the medical center and online at  https://www.conwayregional.org/patients-visitors/patients/employee-recognition

Conway Regional has been awarding the DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) since January of 2017. The awards are part of an international nursing recognition program that honors J. Patrick Barnes, a patient who died from complications of an autoimmune disease in 1999. The DAISY Award was set up by Barnes’ family to officially recognize nurses who show great compassion and provide exemplary care.
